Foeke Booy

Foeke Booy ( born April 25, 1962 in Leeuwarden ) is a Dutch former football player, coach and current - functionary.

Playing career

The former midfielder started his professional career in 1980 at the then second division side SC Cambuur - Leeuwarden. After four years Booy moved to league rivals De Graafschap. There he played a good season, shot twenty goals and had so large share of third place in the Eerste Divisie. These services were not unübersehen also first division teams and so moved Booy after only one year to the Eredivisie relegation PEC Zwolle and managed with this its chances of promotion. After a year in the highest Dutch league, it pulled the midfielder for FC Groningen. By the pride of the North Booy was just one season and he decided to season 1988/89 to Belgium for KV Kortrijk to go. In the Belgian First Division, he finished with his new team to eighth place, as good as since 1981 no more. His continuing good performances were eventually noticed by top Belgian club Club Brugge, so Booy was committed in the summer of 1989 by the Royal. Already in his first year with the black and blue, he was national champion with the club. The following year, the Beker van België was won again in 1992 and the championship. In his last season in Bruges, Booy was Titellos. 1993/94 signed the offensive player with competitors KAA Gent, before only a year later again moved back to the Netherlands and joined the FC Utrecht. In summer 1996 Booy ended his active career, after he had struggled with knee problems.

Coaching career

After end of his career as an active player to Booy immediately decided on a career as a trainer and moved to the junior level of FC Utrecht to train there youth teams. Later he was responsible for the Jong Utrecht, the reserve team of the club, before in 2000 he was under Frans Adelaar assistant coach of the professional team. After Adelaars farewell he took over in 2002 for five years and the club was able to win with him in 2003 and 2004 the KNVB Cup. In addition, the Johan Cruyff - Schaal was brought in 2004 after beat Ajax Amsterdam 4-2. The best league placing under his leadership the team achieved in 2005/ 06, as the sixth rank was earned. 2007 Booy was briefly one on one coaching positions at Arabian club Al -Nasr. However, this compound did not stay long and the football coach pulled it back into the home where he was hired in December 2007 by Sparta Rotterdam. There was enough in two and a half years, but only two unsatisfactory thirteenth places and Booy was in the summer of 2009 the post again.

For the following season, his former employer FC Utrecht signed him as a sporting director.
