Fogo Iceland (of portugies. Ilha do fogo = " Fire Island ") is a 254 km ² large island off the Canadian Atlantic coast. It belongs to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and lies about 15 km off the north coast of the main island in Notre Dame Bay. The island has an east- west distance of about 25 km away and has a hilly, heavily forested terrain with mainly rocky shores. In 2006 lived on Fogo 2706 inhabitants in eleven municipalities; Capital is the city. The fish, especially cod, are traditionally represents the main industry of the island

Until about 1700 Fogo Iceland was visited by Native American people of the Beothuk.
