Fokker D.X

The Fokker DX was a fighter aircraft of the Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker from the early 1920s.

History

Reinhold Platz started yet in Germany the development of a monoplane with a wing in canopy design under the name " Fokker V 41 ". The partially completed prototype was then brought to the Netherlands, where he was in 1921 be paid with a 300 hp Hispano -Suiza V-8 engine completed instead of the originally planned 185 -hp BMW IIIa inline six-cylinder engine.

The prototype crashed in 1922 during a demonstration flight in Spain from as a result of wing flutter. Nevertheless, the " Aeronáutica Militar Espanola " placed an order for ten aircraft, which were delivered in 1923. In the same year a copy to Finland was sold.

Construction

The single-seat DX was designed as a parasol high-wing aircraft. She had a planked with plywood wing and a steel tube fuselage. The rudder was designed as a stabilizer.
