Folding machine

The folding machine is a machine which is used in industrial bookbinding.

Tasks

A folding machine fold a sheet, which has the dual, four -, eight - or multiple format of the later folded printed product. In a folding machine that 'breaks' for the so-called system are generated ( folding ). That is, the paper is on folded sheets inside one another.

"Investment " in printing and print finishing means that the paper is always applied to the same page. Thus, differences in length are to be compensated. It is thus ensured that the printed image is always in the same place.

The folding system is important for binding and further processing. The bookbinder may at its folding machine does not change the system. This means that the sheets always run at a specific paper edge first into the folding machine. Therefore, the printing plant of prepress is specified, and the printer is attached to this specification.

For up to 16 -page products there is a simple rule. The plant should always be on the sides of the sheet 3/4, except for 16 pages vertically. There she is on pages 5/6.
