Folgaria

Folgaria ( Cimbrian Folgrait, German Vielgereuth ) is a municipality with 3172 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Trento in Italy.

The neighboring municipalities are Caldonazzo, Centa San Nicolò, Besenello, Calliano, Lavarone, Lastebasse (VI ), Rovereto, Terragnolo, Laghi (VI).

Geography

The plateau of Folgaria is located at an altitude 900-1000 above sea level on the southern slopes of Monte Cornetto and comprises the area ranging from the broad Talfurche the Rio Cavallo to the border of the province of Vicenza.

Language

The first settlement in Folgaria Cimbric dates back to the 12th century. It is believed that the settlers from the Thirteen municipalities or rather from the settlement phylogenetically older seven communities on the plateau of Sleghe / Asiago came.
