Foligno Calcio

Foligno Calcio is an Italian football club based in Foligno. The club was founded in 1928 and plays its home matches at the Stadio Enzo Blasone, which seats 4,650 spectators. Foligno Calcio currently plays in Lega Pro Prima Divisione, the third- highest division in Italy.

History

The club Foligno Calcio was, in the same city in the region of Umbria in central Italy founded in 1926 under the name of Associazione Sportiva Foligno, Foligno short AS. After a few years in regional leagues Foligno played starting from the season 1929/30, in the Prima Divisione, then according to the third-highest league. Until 1934 it was represented in the Prima Divisione, before one was excluded as third in the season 1933/34, from league play and had to start again in the Seconda Divisione Umbria. A year later, followed by the first name change, the club was called following AUSA Foligno. Under the new name Foligno managed until 1941 to return to the third division. In the meantime going into the sixth season series C. immediately became the eleventh Girona G and kept the class. Over the next three years midfielder placements have been achieved in the C series. 1943, the game operation in Italy was interrupted and only recorded two years later, again due to the Second World War. During the forced break, the club renamed and adopted its present name Foligno Calcio.

In the series C 1945/46, the second tier behind the AC Perugia was achieved in Girona B, which is missing out on promotion to Serie B only just. But then it went strong for Foligno downhill. In 1948, the descent into the Promozione where you just were Sixteenth and was passed in the Prima Divisione. In the following thirty years now, it was not able Foligno, return to the third- highest division, they played many years in Serie D, but also many others in the Promozione. Only in the 1982/83 season was achieved by a second place in the Girona A of Serie C2, only behind the AC Prato to rise again in the third division, which is now called Serie C1. There one was, however, only Seventeenth and rose once again. After Foligno had slipped even into the depths of the regional amateur football, it took until 2007, when they returned the first of Girona B Serie C2 to Serie C1. There, the club played equally well and finished fourth in the Girona A. In the playoffs for promotion to Serie B, Foligno, however, failed Calcio AS Cittadella in the semifinals to, in addition to Sassuolo Calcio should form the second climber later.
