Follicle
Follicles (from Latin folliculus, leather bag ',' shell ',' sleeve ', a diminutive of follis, bellows ' ) is in the anatomy for:
- Ovarian follicle ( folliculus ovaricus ), spherical follicles in the ovary with different stages
- Hair follicles ( folliculus pili or follicle ), outer hair sheath surrounding the hair root saccular
- Dental follicle ( folliculus dentis or dental follicle ), consisting of connective tissue surrounding the tooth germ
- Lymphoid follicles ( folliculus lymphatic or lymph )
- Thyroid storing the thyroid hormone or colloid formed
- Zungenbalgdrüsen ( folliculus lingual ), mucosal bumps on tongue base
Follicles also stands for:
- In ornithology the formation site of a spring, see spring # development of the bird's feather
- In ophthalmology an accumulation of lymphocytes in the conjunctiva, characterized by glassy center on the top of a bulging
