The FOM University of Applied Sciences (in short: FOM, formerly College of Economics and Management ) is a private, state-recognized university, with headquarters in Essen, which offers mainly business and engineering science courses for professionals and trainees.

History

To start in 1990 taken Essen corporate and business organizations, the initiative, a private college for professionals and trainees. On 18 September 1993, the FOM received College of Economy & Management state recognition for teaching, the ( FH) began in the auditorium center of Opti - industrial parks in the winter semester 1994/1995 with 149 first-year students in the degree program graduate in business administration. In the winter semester 2001/ 02 led the FOM in Berlin, Essen and Frankfurt, the Bachelor of International Management, Bachelor of IT Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. On 13 January 2010, the College of Economics and Management in FOM was renamed School of Economics and Management. Since the winter semester 2009/2010, the FOM is a member of the university Erasmus program. In January 2012, the FOM Hochschule was systemakkreditiert by FIBAA. Since March 2013, the FOM is a member of the College Donors' Association for German Science.

Organization

The scientific management consists of a five-member academic Rector, for the individual areas of expertise, there are nine deans. China

Since 2003, the FOM Hochschule led at two locations in China by the German course for Diplom-Kaufmann ( FH). The first academic center was located in Langfang, near Beijing and was a cooperative project with the Shanxi University of Finance & Economics ( SUFE ). Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Business Administration will be held on the campus of SUFE in Taiyuan.

The second study center took in September 2004 in Taian ( Shandong Province ) its operation in cooperation with Shandong Agricultural University ( SDAU ) on. Also at this location Chinese students are prepared in a joint program of the Bachelor of Business Administration.

Courses of Study

The course is structured similar to state universities, ie it is made a division into semesters. The study is based on the requirements of the Bologna process, so that there is a strong structuring, both for teachers and for students. Lectures are held in the form of presence.
