Foni Bintang-Karenai
Foni Bintang - Karanai ( spelling variant: Foni Bintang Karanai ) is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative divisions - the West African nation of Gambia. It is one of nine districts in the West Coast region.
According to a calculation by 2013 there live about 20,185 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 15,994.
History
The name is derived from Foni, a former small kingdom.
The district was created from the merger of the two original districts of Foni Bintang Foni Karanai.

Population
According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest ethnic group of the Jola with a share of about seven -tenths, followed by the Mandinka and the Fula. The distribution in detail: 22.4% Mandinka, Fula 4.8%, 0.6 % Wolof, Jola 66.3 %, 0.5% Serahule, 0.6 % Serer, Aku 0%, 3.6% Manjago, 0.1% Bambara and 1% other ethnicities.
