Fontainebleau Schools

The American Conservatory ( engl. The American Conservatory of Music) in Fontainebleau near Paris is an educational institution that is especially known by the working of her musicians. Their significance for the music of the 20th century can be compared in some way with the regular Nobel Laureate Meetings in Lindau / Bodensee.

Development

The facility has existed since 1921 and was founded by the Americans as a response to the First World War to life. Co-initiators were then General Pershing and Walter Damrosch. As the first director of the composer and professor Francis Casadesus was ordered. First was the establishment in Chaumont (Haute- Marne), the American headquarters, home, where the workforce was entirely French.

In 1923, the second branch of the institution was established in the form of the École des Beaux- Arts ( School of Fine Arts). This deals with painting, architecture and sculpture. In the course of time, architecture has formed as the main branch out, not least because of the proximity to architecturally valuable buildings.

At the present headquarters of the Conservatory of Summer Academy are held regularly lectures by renowned French speakers in English in the form, which mainly deal with issues of music and architecture.
