The Fontanka (Russian Фонтанка ) is a river in Russia. It is the left arm of the Neva river in Saint Petersburg. Along its shoreline are very many former estate of the Russian nobility. The river is crossed by several attractive bridges.

The Fontanka is one of 93 rivers and canals of Saint Petersburg. The river was once called the " Nameless river " ( Безымянный ерик ). In Russian is ерик ( Jerik ) an obsolete name for certain river or connecting rivers.

The newer name of the river derives from the fact that for him the water was removed for the fountains in the gardens of the riverside aristocratic villas.
