Fonte Nuova

Fonte Nuova is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 31 002 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 23 km northeast of Rome.

Geography

Fonte Nuova is located in the hills on the northeastern outskirts of Rome. The municipality consists of the two districts Tor Lupara which extends along the Via Nomentana and Santa Lucia at Via Palombarese. Between these two places the nature reserve Nomentum is reported. In the municipality were found numerous remains of ancient Villae Rustica.

Borders the following municipalities: Mentana, Monterotondo, Guidonia Monte Celio, Rome and Sant'Angelo Romano.

History

Fonte Nuova, was formed on 15 October 2001 after a referendum of the districts Tor Lupara di Mentana and Santa Lucia di Mentana, which were removed from the community Mentana, and from Tor Lupara di Guidonia Monte Celio, which was spun off from Guidonia Monte Celio. Both districts emerged only in the last 50 years.

Policy

Graziano Di Buo ( PdL ) was elected in June 2009 for the mayor. His center-right alliance also with 12 of 20 seats, the majority in the City Council. He solved Giovanni Vittori (PD ) from ( since 2004).
