Fontenay-sous-Bois

Fontenay -sous -Bois is a French town in the department of Val -de- Marne in the Île- de -France southeast of Paris. It is immediately adjacent to the park, Bois de Vincennes, which belongs to the Paris urban area. The city has 52 723 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Population Development

To the place which is named after a local water source, was previously a major part of the Bois de Vincennes. When it was incorporated in 1929 to Paris, the municipal area shrank considerably. In contrast, the population grew steadily: in 1800, there were 1,478 people, 1901 were 9,320 and 1946 30 860; a peak was reached in 1982 with 52 627, since the population is stagnant development.

Traffic

The city has two railway stations, Fontenay -sous -Bois and the Val de Fontenay, both of which are served by RER trains of the Paris public transport network. The Val de Fontenay station is on the railway line Paris -Mulhouse and is served by the RER RER A and RER E. The city also operate 6 RATP bus lines and two other lines of other transport companies and two night bus routes.
