Fonzie (Band)

Fonzie is a Portuguese band that plays pop punk and alternative rock. Occasionally, she is listed as Fonzie Time.

History

Hugo Maia, João Marques and David Marques founded in 1996 in Lisbon, the band under the name of Fonzie, influenced by the former wave of Melodycore bands, especially from California and Sweden. Their first 4- song demo (Bring me up) they took on in 1997.

Since the beginning, they forced the professionalization of the band, as reflected for example in the more elaborate productions. So already their second album ( Built to rock) was recorded in Studio Underground Sweden and mastered in the U.S. West West Side Music studio. Even live they pressed ahead with its internationalization and went several times on a world tour that took them through Asia, Latin America, North America, Australia and Europe. They are still regular guests at festivals, and so far played at events such as the Rock in Rio, the Deconstruction Tour, the Fuji Rock Festival, the Super Bock Super Rock or the Pukkelpop.

2003 her piece gotta get away in the MTV television series Laguna Beach was used, and again in MTV -made television programs.

They were represented at the fifth soundtrack CD of the hit television series Morangos com Açúcar, and were as Best Portuguese Act nominated at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2003 and again in 2007.

In 2010 they released their fifth album Caminho ( "path" ), on which she sang for the first time consistently Portuguese, which they had previously done only on a piece of her debut album in 1998.

In a sign of their reorientation towards the Portuguese song was also, for the 2012 European Football Championship Portugal published piece (a Selecção de todos nós ) (German: "Portugal (the selection of all of us ) " ), in support of the Portuguese national team, and in the official video clip among others The Homens da Luta had two guest appearances, Portugal Representative to the Euro Vision Song Contest 2011 in Dusseldorf.
