Foolad F.C.

Foolad Khuzestan Football Club (Persian باشگاه فوتبال فولاد خوزستان ) is an Iranian football club based in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province.


Until the collapse of the hitherto known association in Ahvaz, Ahvaz FC Jonoub, Foolad Ahvaz was an unknown club from the province of Khuzestan. Although they had won the city championship in 1991 in Ahvaz and had risen to the second division of the regional league Khusistans, but only with the use of the square in the second Iranian League of Jonoub Ahvaz in 1995 reached to about regional attention. 1996, reached the summit in the IPL. In the late 1990s took over the Ahvaz steel plant the club. In the season 2004/2005 was one champion and took the following year at the Asian Champions League.

The club finished second in the season 2007 /08 in the Azadegan League ( Group B ) the first place in the standings. Foolad initially failed to qualify for promotion to the IPL, since they lost in two play-off games Payam Mashhad. After the Iranian Football Federation ( IRIFF ) decided not to let Sepahan Novin play in the IPL, because the team, the reserve team of Sepahan Isfahan forms, last year's runners- Iranian Championship, Foolad moved in after the IPL as the second climber.

In the past season 2010/2011 Foolad Ahvaz finished sixth in the standings.
