Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The Ford Sport Trac is a mid-size pickup truck, the Ford offers mainly in North America. The Sport Trac is based on the Ford Explorer SUV manufactured since 2000. This pickup is then classified according to size, performance and price between the Ranger and F-Series. Its competitors are middle-class and double cab pickups, such as the Honda Ridgeline and the Dodge Dakota. In the first year of sales in the U.S., there was a waiting list of more than three months.

First generation (2001-2005)

Ford Explorer Sport Trac (2001-2002)

The Explorer Sport Trac was introduced in 2000 as a 2001 model. They built it on the extended chassis of an Explorer, but with a small cargo area behind the normal four doors of the SUV. On request, there was also a platform extension. The platform consisted entirely of filled plastics, and usually there was a factory tonneau top of hard plastic. The pickup had a more contoured front as they also got the two-door Explorer later. In model year 2003, the name " Explorer " from the doors disappeared. The rougher appearance also continued inside fort, where there was only one fully lined with a rubber mat floor. Carpet was not available. Instead of the usual pickups sliding window behind the Sport Trac had an electrically operated " Breezeway " window. In June 2005, the last copy of this series rolled off the assembly line.

Second generation (2007-2010)

Ford Explorer Sport Trac (2007)

In the spring of 2006, a new Sport Trac was introduced for the 2007 model year. It was based on the new, larger Explorer of the 4th generation. Unlike its predecessor, it can be equipped with a 4.6 liter V8 engine with 24 valves. The Sport Trac the second generation, in contrast to his predecessor, a completely new reinforced frame and independent suspension on all four wheels. To increase the security, led to the systems AdvanceTrac and Roll Stability Control as a standard feature. The Sport Trac is currently offered in two trim levels ( instead of four as in explorer). A special series of SVT called Sport Trac Adrenalin was planned for 2007, but was dropped .. However, the adrenaline in 2008 returned as a sports version of the Sport Trac with blackened blackened grille and trim.
