Ford Ikon

The Ford Ikon is a car model of the car maker Ford, which is now being produced in the second generation. This is a notchback variant of the Ford Fiesta, which was offered from spring 2000 in South Africa, Asia, and South and Central America.

The first generation model was based on the Ford Fiesta '99 and was also offered in Eastern European countries, especially Russia. The available since early 2008 second generation is based on the revised Fiesta '06.

Ikon I

Ford Ikon (2000-2006)

The first generation model was based on the Ford B3 platform, however, the models for the different markets showed technical and visual differences. Thus, the produced in South Africa and Mexico models were almost identical to the European Ford Fiesta, while the vehicles produced in India were equipped with cheaper to producing suspension, a simpler interiors and a simple lined front. The China-made models ranked between the two versions. In Mexico, Brazil and China, the Ikon was sold as a Fiesta sedan. In South Africa, a pickup model (similar to the Škoda Favorit Van Plus) produced in two - or four-door finish.

Ford discontinued the production of Ikon in Mexico in September 2007. In China and South Africa ended production. In India, it was built until the spring of 2011.

Ikon II / Fiesta Sedan

Ford Fiesta Sedan (identical )

The second generation is based on the revised Ford Fiesta '06 and is produced solely in Brazil. On the South American markets it is offered as a Fiesta Sedan, South Africa and other export markets again as Ford Ikon. As engine comes with either a 1.6 -liter Duratec engine with 74 kW or a 1.4-liter Duratorq turbo diesel with 50 kW. As with the previous model, the gasoline engine can be operated optionally mixed arbitrarily with ethanol and gasoline.

In China, India and Mexico, the icon is no longer available, instead, here offered in North America Fiesta sedan will be offered based on the Fiesta as Fiesta Classic '09.
