Ford Windstar

The Ford Windstar was an American Van Ford based on the Ford Taurus. It was built by the beginning of 1995 until the spring of 2003, with Ford officially expelled him from the middle of 1998 in Germany. Its predecessor is the Ford Aerostar, successor to the Ford Freestar.

In Germany the car was sold in small numbers from 1995 to 2002 and was considered a larger sized alternative to Ford Galaxy. The Windstar was equipped contrary to this with a sliding side door. The success was not however limited, as he did not meet European standards in terms of design and interior quality. In 2003, the Windstar in America was replaced by the Ford Freestar. Was built the model in Oakville, Ontario in Canada.

From the vehicle two model generations were produced. The first was made by the beginning of 1995 until the spring of 1999 and officially distributed in Germany. Available the vehicle was equipped with a 3.0 -liter Vulcan V6 or a 3.8 -liter Essex V6 engine. The latter made about 115 kW.

In 1997, the Windstar received a facelift with a modified grille and headlights.

In the spring of 1999, the second version, in which both exterior and interior were redesigned appeared. All versions were equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission. The second generation was officially sold in a specially tuned version of the German situation. Optionally, it was the vehicle with a four-year warranty. With the usually very steadfast 3.0 -liter engine, there was a problem, however: The camshaft position sensor, which simultaneously drive the oil pump was sometimes due to abraded gears from an early stage, often resulting in serious engine damage.

In April 2003, production of the Windstar ran out.
