Forel -sur -Lucens is a municipality in the district Broye Vully the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Forel -sur -Lucens is located on 672 m above sea level. Level, 14 km southwest of the district town Payerne ( straight line ). The farming village stands on a plateau in the Molassehügelland between the Mentue and Broye, in the Vaud Mittelland.

The area of ​​2.8 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the hill country between the Mentue in the West and the Middle Broyetal in the east. Population

With 153 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Forel -sur -Lucens one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Vaud. Of the 93.4 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 5.1 % and 0.7 % in English (as of 2000). The population of Forel -sur -Lucens amounted in 1850 to 233 inhabitants still, 1900 to 195 inhabitants. Economy

Forel -sur -Lucens was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1239 under the name Forest. Later, the names appeared Fores ( 1342 ) and Forex ( 1354 ).

Since the Middle Ages formed Forel -sur -Lucens own little rule, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Savoy. Over time, the village underwent numerous changes in ownership. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536 came Forel -sur -Lucens under the administration of the bailiwick Moudon. Attractions

At the site of the former chapel of the new school house was built in 1888 with a bell tower. The new village chapel was built in 1951.
