Foreningen Norden

Association North, Foreningen North ( Danish and Norwegian), Föreningen north ( Swedish) or Pohjola -Norden ( Finnish) is an unrepresented in the Nordic countries Association for the Promotion of cultural and political cooperation between the Nordic countries. Projects of the association include the exchange program Nordjobb or the annual Nordic Library days. In many areas, the association cooperates with the Nordic Council.

The association occurs mainly on the sections in the various countries in appearance. The largest single club is Föreningen north in Sweden with about 30,000 members. Other individual clubs can be found in Denmark (including Southern Schleswig ), Norway, Finland, Åland, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Common umbrella organization since 1965 Foreningerne North Forbund (Association of Nordic Clubs ) with about 72,000 members (as of 2000). The individual national sections have already been established immediately after the First World War. In the years 1933 and 1934, the Association was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
