Forever Your Girl is the debut album by the American dancer, choreographer and singer Paula Abdul. The album was released on 13 June 1988, reached 64 weeks after the publication of No. 1 on the Billboard 200, so Abdul presented a record for most weeks it took for an album before it reached the top.

History

In the U.S. and Canada, the album was certified platinum seven times each, total were from the album over 25 million units worldwide. The album includes the Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits - Straight Up, Forever Your Girl Cold Hearted and Opposites Attract. To put Abdul the record for the most number one hits from a debut album and the record for the second most number-one hits from one album ever on, only Michael Jackson had five more number - one hits on a plate. The Way That You Love Me peaked at number three and Knocked Out number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100

After a lean start the album after the release of the third single Straight Up a huge success in the summer of 1989, a year after its release in the summer of 1988. Forever Your Girl reached in the U.S. on May 20, 1989 number one. After the release of Opposites Attract it reached on 10 February 1990 again number one and was a total of nine weeks on the top of the album charts. On the first day of publication of Forever Your Girl sold 191,000 units in one day. In the summer of 1989, the sales of the album per day increased tenfold.

Paula Abdul wrote on the album, only the title One or the Other. Some pieces, including three of the singles, as submitted by Oliver Leiber.
