Formidable (song)

Formidable ( in German: fantastic, great) is a song by the Belgian singer Stromae. ( Carrée Racine ) The second single from his second album was released in Belgium √ 1 June 2013 and launched straight to number one on the local charts. It is his most successful single since Alors on danse ( 2009).
The music video is subtitled " ceci n'est pas une leçon " ( This is not a lesson).
Content
The plot revolves around a recently abandoned husband, the pessimistic mourns his ex-girlfriend and drunk turns to different people. He constantly repeated (each in the chorus ), but how great the day before everything was still and so brings his despair over the young Miss able to express.
In the first stanza, he appeals to a strange woman and wants to tell her of his sorrow. It is quenched and little willing to keep him company, perhaps out of fear that he could become aggressive due to his despair and his drunkenness.
The second verse is addressed to a married man. Stromae warns him that he should better be nothing fancy on the covenant of marriage. Finally, it should only be a ring and his wife will leave him anyway, as women always do in his opinion. He also asks him if he had told his wife about " the other " and offers him to do it for him, to the separation (which, and this is the basic message, anyway imminent ) simplify.
Addressee of the third verse is first a boy, he explains that there is no " good and evil " would be in life. Then he turns to the people who look at him derogatory (as he was a monkey) and criticized for this. He emphasizes that they are not saints, but ultimately, only one band monkeys. In the context of the music video, in which the artist is drunk staring at the stop of many waiting and running around people and filmed, these lines achieve an even greater effect.
Music Video
On May 22, 2013 first amateur footage appeared on YouTube, on the morning of the show 21 Stromae seemingly drunk running around on a subway and tram station in Brussels. The pictures spread virally. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that it acted in the action at the shooting of a music video. Stromae confirmed this on 24 May 2013, the French Ce soir ou jamais television broadcast in which he announced his new single " Formidable " for the first time live for the best.
The music video was filmed exclusively with a hidden camera, Stromae shows with headphones drunk at the tram stop Louise. He runs visibly dejected around and mumbles or shouts over and over again a few lines of the song, which he captured the attention of passers-by and some policemen. The latter speak to him, confess to being fans of his music and offer him to drive him home. For the intelligibility of non- Francophone translated into English the lyrics are displayed as a subtitle.
