Formigine
Formigine is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 33 865 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Modena in the Emilia -Romagna. The municipality borders the neighboring province of Reggio Emilia. The city is located about five kilometers southwest of Modena.
History
1201 a fortress was built by the city-state of Modena, to serve as a bulwark against the enemy city of Bologna in this area. As the feudal estate of Niccolò III was. d' Este 1395 to Marco Pio, who ruled over the rule Carpi given. The fort can be visited in the city center today.

Between Modena and Formigine the A1 motorway from Milan runs to the Adriatic coast.
