Forni Avoltri

Forni Avoltri ( in Friulian: For Davôtri, in the local dialect: For Davùatri ) a municipality with 625 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is located in the province of Udine.

Geography

Forni Avoltri is the last municipality of Val Degano before the border with Veneto. The village is north of Carnia, making it the northernmost municipality in the region.

Attractions

  • Chiesa di San Lorenzo - the church is in Forni and dates from the 17th century. It was restored in 1870.
  • Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista - the church is in Frassenetto and was built in 1346. In 1745, it was restored.
  • Museo etnografico Cemuot chi erin - the ethnographic museum was established in 1992.
  • Museo della grande guerra

Economy

The economy Forni Avoltris based on the winter and summer tourism. The village has nine hotels, a campground, three bed and breakfast inns, two Agritourism Farms and three alpine refuges. In the field of gastronomy, there are three restaurants available.

Sports

In Forni Avoltri is a biathlon stadium, are in the international competitions since the 1990s, especially in the European Cup Biathlon performed. 2003 and 2013 was the site hosted the Summer Biathlon World Championships and the European Championships Biathlon 1997 Biathlon Junior World Championships. Besides Ridnaun the place is thus the center of the Italian biathlon.
