Fornjót
Fornjótr is a figure from Norse mythology.
Although it has been described in the Orkney Inga Saga and in the Flateyjarbók ( Hversu Nóregr byggðisk ) as king, but his sons are more mythological figures:
- Hler ( "sea" )
- Logi ( "fire" )
- Kari ( "wind" )
Karis son (depending on the source) either Jǫkull ( " Glacier " ) or Frosti. In both sources, Kari is the grandfather of Snær ( "snow" ).
Maybe Fornjótr is originally the progenitor of a race of frost giants and was taken later in the history of literature.
The etymology of the name is disputed.
