Forsakar Nature Reserve

The nature reserve Forsakar (Swedish: Naturreservatet Forsakar ) is an approximately 750 m long and 40 m deep canyon in the north-eastern part of the southern Swedish province of Skåne County and the historical province Scania.

The 2.5 -hectare nature reserve located in the town near the town of Kristianstad Degeberga. The creek Forsakar (Swedish: Forsakarbäcken ) flows through the nature reserve from west to east and overcomes in the gorge in two separate waterfalls a total height of 18 m, the upper case (Swedish: övre fallet ) 7.4 m and the lower case (Swedish: nedre fallet ) 10.6 m. These two waterfalls are the highest individual waterfalls in Skåne, in the total amount but the Hallamölla with 23 m is higher.

Also in the area are three dam facilities for the use of water power from the 19th century, which were shut down by explaining the nature reserve on December 28, 1928.

The vegetation is dominated by beech forest. Am Bach also alder, ash, elm and hornbeam grow. Among the breeding birds include dippers, gray wagtails and the wren. Also you can watch Wood Warbler, Hawfinch, tawny owls and small woodpeckers, among the most common mammals in the area include the Minke and pine marten.

The Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus visited 1749 Forsakar on May 2.
