Forst, Switzerland

Forestry was until 31 December 2006, a municipality in the district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

With effect on 1 January 2007 forestry has merged with Längenbühl the new community forestry Längenbühl.

Geography

The place is a dispersed settlement in the moraine landscape of the upper Gürbetal. The main districts are the Dorfli Allmid ( Allmendfeld ), chromene, Längmoos and Riedhubel. From the former municipality area of 185 ha, 79.7 % were used for agriculture. 11.8% is covered by forest and woodland and merely 8.0% settlement area.

Population

Beginning of 2005, the municipality had 357 inhabitants. Of these, 341 ( = 95.52 %), Swiss nationals and 16 immigrants from abroad.

Traffic

The village is served by bus line 51 Thun- forestry Blumenstein of STI to the network of public transport.
