Forstbotanischer Garten Eberswalde

The Forest Botanical Garden Eberswalde is located on the southern outskirts ( on Zainhammer, a former forge ) and belongs to the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde.

It was founded in 1830 with the then Royal Prussian Higher Forest College in Eberswalde. The forest scientist Friedrich Wilhelm Leopold Pfeil (1783-1859) decided, with the support of Wilhelm von Humboldt to move the Forest Academy of Berlin to Eberswalde. The garden includes native and exotic plants and serves as a teaching garden for forestry students. The first system ( called Arrow 's Garden ) is located opposite the main entrance in the forest today.

Under Forstinspektor Danckelmann Bernhard (1831-1901) was from 1868 to 1874 the system of today's 8 hectares of gardens. In his honor, a statue by the sculptor Fritz Heinemann was unveiled on 10 August 1905.
