Fort-du-Plasne

Fort-du- Plasne is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Fort-du- Plasne is located on 887 m above sea level. M., about 16 km south of the city Champagnole (air line). The village street lines extending in the Jura, in the north -east of the vast plateau of Grandvaux, east of Lemme, at the edge of the forest heights of the Bois de Combe Noire.

History

The place name derives from Fort not a fortification but from the French word four ( oven ), while Plasne designated in the regional dialect a maple.
