Fort Hays State University
The Fort Hays State University (also called FHSU ) is a public university in Hays in the U.S. state of Kansas. Currently, about 9,500 students are enrolled. Every year is celebrated at the beginning of term at the University Oktoberfest, in memory of the many Volga German immigrants in Ellis County. To the university is the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
History
The college was founded in 1902 as a branch of the Kansas State Normal, now Emporia State University.
Sports
The sports teams of the Fort Hays State University are the Tigers. The university is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
