The Fort Lewis College is a public university in Durango in the southwest of the U.S. state of Colorado. At the university about 4000 students are enrolled, of which 20 % Native American.

History

The university was established in 1911 in connection with a contract in which Indian tribes in exchange for land by the U.S. government to finance the university received. Since 1956, the Fort Lewis College is located in Durango.

Sports

The sports teams of the Fort Lewis College are the Skyhawks. The university is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. When soccer team the Skyhawks since the summer of 2012 playing Yannis Becker. Former player of Werder Bremen U23 and the Stuttgarter Kickers. Becker plays there with a scholarship.
