Foulatari (also: Foulatéri ) is a rural municipality in the Department Maïné - Soroa in Niger.

Geography

Foulatari lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are N'Guelbély the northwest, N'Gourti in the northeast, southeast and Chétimari Maïné - Soroa in the southwest. The municipality is divided into 40 camps and three water points.

History

The rural community Foulatari originated as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform, when the area of the Canton Maïné - Soroa was divided between the municipalities Foulatari, Maïné - Soroa and N'Guelbély.

Population

At the 2001 census Foulatari had 3007 inhabitants. For the year 2010 4108 population were calculated. In the municipality of semi-nomadic Fulani live.

Economy and infrastructure

The South Foulataris belongs to the zone of rainfed farming, the north is dominated by the pastoral industry. In between is an area in which Agropastoralismus is the predominant form of employment.
