Foumban is a city in western Cameroon with about 113,100 inhabitants ( 2001). It is the historical, political, religious and cultural center of the People of the Bamum and traditional capital of the Kingdom of Bamum, the Sultanate southern Cameroon. She is also the administrative capital of today's departments Noun.

The city hosts the 19th century built by King Njoya Sultan's Palace, which architecturally oriented to north German brick construction. The king left the palace after the model of German postcards construct, which had brought him an expeditionary force of the German military. The palace serves to this day as the seat of the sultan and king in one person. It also houses the historical museum of the Bamun - people, are exhibited in the numerous traditional costumes, weapons and furniture.

Are within walking distance of the Palace, the largest and most important mosque in the Bamum is (built in 1956). Every Friday, leaving the Sultan accompanied by his court to the Palace in a ceremonial procession to go to the traditional Friday prayers.

The center of the city is also marked by a large market for food and traditional craftsmanship of Bamun.
