Fountain County, Indiana

Fountain County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Covington.

Geography

The County is located in western Indiana, is about 20 km from Illinois and has an area of ​​1031 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Tippecanoe County, Montgomery County, Parke County, Vermillion County and Warren County.

History

Fountain County was formed on December 20, 1825 from parts of Montgomery County. It was named after Major James Fontaine from Kentucky, who distinguished himself in the American Revolutionary War and was killed at Fort Wayne.
