Four causes#Efficient cause

The efficient cause ( efficient cause ) is the Latin term for the Aristotelian cause of movement (also called the efficient cause ). It is one of four causes in natural philosophy of Aristotle; it is an external cause, namely, "the source, in which the change or the peace has its origins ". The efficient cause, then, causes something that is generated. So the hammering of the blacksmith is on the bronze one of the efficient causes that create the bronze statue. Even the smith itself can be described as efficient cause.

According to Aristotle, there are four causes. The remaining three ( complementary ) causes are:

  • Material cause ( material cause)
  • Causa formalis ( formal cause )
  • Causa finalis ( final cause )
  • Metaphysics
  • Ontology
  • Aristotle
