Four Tet

Four Tet is the name of ( born 1977 in Putney, London ) is used for his solo - project of electronic music from Kieran Hebden, to distinguish them from his work with post-rock band Fridge. Earlier publications also emerged under the pseudonyms 4t recordings and Joshua Hawks.

General

Four Tet is in many parts of Europe ( and most in Hebden native Britain ) highly respected for his work as a talented experimental artist, but he is virtually unknown in the United States. Hebden 's solo work consists mostly of samples, which he relates from different sources, such as hip-hop, electronic music, techno, jazz, and folk. This he mixes then partly with self -established drums lights and simple guitar harmonies.

The Music

The music of Four Tet has some similarity with other musicians such as Prefuse 73, who use computer for processing and thus achieve certain staccato effects, but Hebden work is characterized by organic and harmonious melodies.

Hebden released his first material as Four Tet on a 36 -minute single titled Thirtysixtwentyfive. Later in the same year he published the very influenced by jazz music Misnomer. The first album was Dialogue ( 1999); it united hip-hop with dissonant jazz samples.

The years from 2001

In 2001 the second album Pause was released, which contained more folk and electronica elements, which inspired some critics to call Hebden style as folktronica. The piece Everything is Alright was used by Nike in the years 2001/2002 in a commercial.

Rounds was released in May 2003 and by that time, Hebden 's most ambitious and profitträchtigstes album. Then samples of a mandolin (Spirit Fingers ) and a rubber duck ( Slow Jam ) are included.

From the album Rounds three singles were released: She Moves She, As Serious As Your Life and My Angel Rocks Back and Forth. The last of the three was released as an EP and contains remixes of Icarus and Isambard Khroustalov and additional unpublished material such as I've Got Viking in Me and All the Chimes.

The musical zeal Hebden is evident not only in his own publications, but also in countless remixes by musicians of various genres, such as: The Cinematic Orchestra, Madvillain, The Notwist, Lars Hornveth, James Yorkston, Aphex Twin, Beth Orton, Radiohead, boom Bip, David Holmes, Bloc Party.

As a producer and studio musician Keiran Hebden joined, among others, for the London Musicians Dempsey on his debut album Sunrise / Sunset ( with Adem Ilhan and Sam Jeffers of Fridge ) in appearance.

In early 2003 joined Four Tet opening for Radiohead in their European tour on. A compiled for the series Late Night Tales 2004 of the London Azuli label sampler evidence of Hebden musical influences and his penchant for unusual DJ sets.

In early 2005 came Keiran Hebden with jazz-rock drummer Steve Reid in Paris and London, resulting in an intense collaboration resulted Steve Reid's album Spirit Walk 2005 ( with Keiran Hebden to Electronics) and two albums as a duo in 2006.

The published in May 2005 album Everything Ecstatic breaks with the expectations of the gained through the albums break and Rounds broader audience, as the " folktronica " elements strongly into the background and electro - rhythmic experiments are given space.

In June 2006, an edition of the DJ-Kicks series by Four Tet appeared.

End of April 2008 published the mini- EP Four Tet Ringer. In the same year, Four Tet took the Endmelodie "Crawl, End Crawl " for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace on. By his own account he had this only about a day's time, a week later, he saw the film at the premiere.

On 31 January 2010, the album There Is Love appeared in You, which is characterized by harmonic- rhythmic tracks.

On August 20, 2012, the album appeared on Pink Four Tets -house label Text Records.
