Frackville is a borough of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in the United States.

Geography

Frackville is located 10 kilometers north of Pottsville, and is tangent to the south of Interstate 81 highway. At a distance of around 70 kilometers, Wilkes-Barre is located in the north. Harrisburg in south-west is about 90 kilometers away.

History

First settlers settled about 1861 in the place to the ground, which was named after its founder Daniel Frack and was associated with some neighboring communities to Frackville Borough in 1876. After around substantial deposits were found on anthracite coal, the town grew rapidly. Because increasingly, alternative fuels came after the Second World War to the application, the population decreased again.

Demographic data

In 2011 a population of 3804 persons was determined, which means a slowdown to 12.8% compared to the year 2000. The average age of the residents was 44.7 years in 2011 with slightly above the average of Pennsylvania, which was 43.3 years.

The most authoritative early immigration groups in the city came to 21.4% in Germany to 20.2% in Ireland to 15.3% in Poland and 11.2% in Lithuania.
