Fragmentation
Fragmentation (Latin Fragmentum, ( break) piece, remnant ' to frangere break '; - ming formation. Neuzeitl ) has several meanings.
Fragmentation is in computer science:
- Of fragmentation is referred to when, in a storage space of unused storage regions (fragments) between used memory areas exist
- With block by block data storage for a memory loss when present within the memory blocks unused free memory: Internal fragmentation ( or wastage)
- In TCP / IP networks for the allocation of an IP data packet to multiple physical data blocks, see IP fragmentation
- In block-oriented data storage media for the distribution of related data on non-consecutive data blocks, see fragmentation ( file system)
- For distributed and parallel database systems for the distribution of the data, see denormalization # fragmentation
Fragmentation is in other sciences:
- Habitat fragmentation in the ecology of the Verinselung from mainland habitats.
- Fragmentation ( mass spectrometry) in physics for the division of a molecule into smaller fragments in different ways in mass spectrometry
- In political science for the dismemberment of a parliament in fractions, see fraction ( policy)
- In sociology for the effect of the division of labor by capitalism. Everyone does something different, in contrast to earlier communities.
