Fraham

Fraham is a municipality with 2251 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Upper Austria in Eferding district in Hausruckviertel. The municipality is located in the judicial district Eferding.

Geography

Fraham is located at 270 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 6.7 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.2 km. The total area is 17 km ². 1 % of the area is forested, 13.6 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Fraham and Hörstorf.

History

Originally the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Coat of arms

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: square of green and gold; 1 and 4, a golden sheaf of corn, two and three blue, left oblique bar, covered by a black mill wheel. The municipality colors are green - yellow-blue. The sheaves of grain in the green fields emphasize the rural character of the community with 90 % of agricultural land area. The water wheels in the criss-crossed by a blue horizontal bar gold fields remind of the importance of his term grain mills on Innbach, which are among the oldest farms in the municipality today.

By municipality, the railway lines Linz local train run (LILO ) (Linz - Eferding - Peuerbach / Neumarkt- Kallham ) and the Aschacher train ( Aschach - Eferding - catfish).

Attractions

  • Chapel: In Fraham there is a chapel with figures of contemporary Eferdinger sculptor Giles Gamsjager,
  • Rosarium: The ' Rosarium Gruber ' is located in the district Trattwörth. It shows in a freely accessible garden on an area of 2000 m² an extensive collection of roses,
  • Wiesenmuhle: The meadow mill is mentioned in records in 1250. The four-story mill building was demolished in 1828 with the stones of the city gate of Eferding, the Linzertor built. Since 1925 the water power is exploited for electricity generation and thus also operated a sawmill.
