Fran Lhotka

Fran Lhotka ( born December 25, 1883 in Mladá Vožice; † January 26, 1962 in Zagreb) was a Yugoslav composer.

Lhotka studied from 1899 to 1905 at the Prague Conservatory in Antonín Dvořák. From 1909 to 1912 he was member of the orchestra and vocal coach of the National Theatre in Zagreb, after which he worked as a professor at the Conservatory of the city.

He composed four operas and five ballets, a symphony, a violin concerto, two Croatian rhapsodies for violin and chamber orchestra, chamber music, choirs and folk-song arrangements. He also authored a textbook on harmony and a textbook of conducting.
