Frances Baard is a district in the province of Northern Cape in South Africa. He has 382 086 inhabitants (as of 2011) on a total area of 12,349 km ², it is thus the smallest district in the Northern Cape. The capital of the district is Kimberley. The district is named after the politician Frances Baard ( 1901-1997 ). The largest rivers are the Vaal, Orange, Riet, Modder and Harts.
