Frances Langford

Frances Newbern Langford ( April 4, 1914 in Lakeland, Florida; † July 11, 2005 Jensen Beach, Florida) was an American singer and actress.

She began her career as an opera singer. Due to a surgery on her neck she then moved into the tray of popular music. Since the 1930s, Frances Langford sang on the radio and worked from 1936 in feature films. As a real singer she played mainly in musicals, but usually only in small roles. In 1941 she began a collaboration with Bob Hope in his radio show, which lasted until the late 1980s. On the radio, she also worked with Don Ameche in "The Bickersons " together, which was also released on vinyl. Although she was never the major star, she sang many of the great classics such as You are My Lucky Star and Broadway in the musical Rhythem Broadway Melody of 1936 or even Hooray for Hollywood.

Until her death, she appeared still from time to time in the nightclub of their own large beach motels " Frances Langford Outrigger Resort " in Jensen Beach, Florida on. Their last regular concert she gave in 1966 for the troops in Vietnam.
