Francesca Annis

Francesca Annis ( born May 14, 1944 in London) is a British actress.

Life

Francesca Annis originally wanted to enter a convent, but opted for acting. She had engagements at many stages of England as an actress in the straight theater and musical.

A wide audience Annis was known for her numerous roles in feature films. As a teenager, she performed in productions such as the British comedy Carry on Teacher. Their first international production was the monumental epic Cleopatra (1963 ), in which they, the faithful slave Cleopatra ( Elizabeth Taylor) embodied as Eiras. Then she played supporting roles such as Lady Macbeth in Roman Polanski's adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth or Lady Jessica Atreides in David Lynch's feature film version of Frank Herbert's science fiction classic Dune - Dune.

Often Annis was also seen in film adaptations of Agatha Christie's crime novels. While this 1964 Four women and a murder was still playing in a supporting role as a young actress at the Margaret Rutherford's side, she loosened in the film version of Why do you not ask Evans? (1980, with John Gielgud ) as Lady Frances Derwent even the murder case. In 1983, she played the lead role of Tuppence Beresford in a crime series by Agatha Christie, the detective Blunt. In addition, she was seen repeatedly in guest roles in television series such as Magnum and Simon Templar.

Annis ' was over 22 years in a relationship with photographer Patrick Wiseman, with whom she has three children (two daughters, one son). Between 1995 and 2006, fellow actor and Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes was her partner. On 8 February 2006 the 18-year younger Fiennes was the separation revealed after a year-long affair between him and a female singer became public.
