Francesca Schiavone

Francesca Schiavone [ fɾant͡ʃɛska skjavɔne ] ( born June 23, 1980 in Milan ) is an Italian tennis player. She celebrated her biggest success with winning the title at the French Open in 2010.

Career

In individual Schiavone was previously in 17 finals ( only three in the fall of 2005 ), of which she won six: 2007 in Bad Gastein, 2009 in Moscow, 2010 in Barcelona and in Paris (Roland Garros ), 2012 in Strasbourg and in 2013 in Marrakech. The other three Grand Slam tournaments she reached at least the quarter-finals - 2003 and 2010 at the U.S. Open, 2009 Wimbledon and 2011 at the Australian Open. In doubles, she won seven titles so far, 2008 it was at the French Open with her former partner Casey Dellacqua also the final, where they lost Anabel Medina Garrigues / Virginia Ruano Pascual 6-2, 5:7 and 4:6.

Also, the first Fed Cup victory for Italy Schiavone was one of the party. In 2006 she won with her teammates Mara Santangelo, Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci competition with a 3-2 victory over Belgium.
