Francesco Albani

Francesco Albani ( born August 17, 1578 Bologna, † October 4, 1660 ) was an Italian painter of the Bolognese School.

Albani had masters the Dutch Denys Calvaert, Lodovico Carracci and then the childhood friend and classmate Guido Reni, but then confronted him as a rival.

Albani made about 45 altarpieces, which are in the style of the school of the Carracci. But prefer he painted idyllic objects of ancient myth or representations, as she gave him the simultaneous pastoral poetry, including Torquato Tasso and Guarini Guarino, at your fingertips. He should have had his second, very beautiful wife twelve children of such beauty that it the same as the most suitable models could serve for his Venus, Galatea, Amorinen and figures of angels. Full serenity and grace are the landscapes that often constitute a major part of his paintings. But no more already appreciated Albanis contemporaries this monotony towards the end of his life as much as before.
