Francesco Janich

Francesco Janich ( born March 27, 1937 in Udine ) is a retired Italian footballer, the total of 425 games in Serie A completed during his playing career, and thus one of the record players in the Italian league. Janich played on the position of the libero and ran on well for the Italian national football team.

Career

Francesco Janich started his professional career at Atalanta, where he made his debut in Serie A was in a 0-2 defeat against Napoli on 16 September 1956. While he was only six operations in his first season, he continued in the second year as starting player by. In 1958 he moved to Lazio, where he still in the same year won the Coppa Italia. In 1961, he decided on another change, this time to FC Bologna where he was to have the longest and most successful period of his career. In nine seasons, he brought it there in 294 league appearances. In the season 1963/64 he won with his club, the Italian Cup, 1969/70 and 1973 /74 Coppa Italia.

Janich was first appointed in 1962 in the Italian selection for which he debuted at the 0-2 defeat against Chile on June 2, 1962. Although he brought it Azzurra only a total of six appearances in the Squadra, he participated in two World Cups, in 1962 in Chile and 1966 in England.

For the Italian Serie A Janich continues to this day a curious record. He played the most games in a row (425 ) without a single scoring, thus he succeeded in his entire professional career a single goal.
