Francesco Lamperti

Francesco Lamperti (* March 11, 1811 or 1813 in Savona, † May 1, 1892 in Como ) was an Italian singing teacher.

Lamperti was born in Savona. He studied at the Milan Conservatory, where he taught for 25 years since 1850. He was director of the Teatro Filodrammatico in Lodi. From 1875, he was only private lessons. Among his pupils were Emma Albani, Italo Campanini, Marie van Zandt, Herbert Witherspoon, David Bispham, both Cruvelis, Collini and Désirée Artôt. His vocal methodology was heavily influenced by the old Italian school. He published several books on bel canto and singing.

His son Giovanni Battista Lamperti (1839-1910) was also a renowned vocal teacher.
