Francesco Profumo

Francesco Profumo ( May 3, 1953 in Savona, Liguria ) is an Italian electrical engineer, university teachers and ministers. In the Monti government he headed from November 2011 to April 2013 the Ministry of Education.

Career

After studying electrical engineering at the Technical University of Turin Profumo worked from 1978 to 1984 in the Department of Research and Development of Ansadlo Group in Genoa. In 1984 he returned as a lecturer at his alma mater to Turin, and later he became a professor at the University of Bologna. In September 2003, Profumo took over the management of the engineering faculty of the University of Turin, in October 2005, he became its rector. In August 2011, Profumo was President of the National Research Council CNR in Rome. As a visiting professor he was at the University of Wisconsin -Madison, Nagasaki, Prague ( TU) and Cordoba ( Argentina) operates. Profumo is member of several scientific engineering bodies. About 250 scientific contributions Profumo's been published in professional journals. He received numerous awards, including several honorary doctorates and honorary professorships. In several Italian companies Profumo sat on the board.
