Francesco Renga

Francesco Renga ( born June 12, 1968 in Udine; actually Pierfrancesco Renga ) is an Italian singer and songwriter.

Life

Renga loses in childhood his mother and grows at a surrogate mother near Brescia on. This early blow not only shapes his character, but also recurring theme of his intense and emotional songs about loss, loneliness and the need to hide from the outside world.

As a teenager, he begins to play with local bands. At the age of sixteen he participates with his founded with friends in the school band Modus Vivendi Music Competition Deskomusic. At the same competition, another band called Timoria advertises ( at that time still under the band name Precious Time ), the Renga joins immediately. In the next thirteen years, he developed his musical intuition as a vocalist of the band, particularly among young people is gaining in popularity in Italy and Renga brings to concerts throughout Europe. In the shared-time Renga released seven albums with the band.

After a rift within the band in late 1998 Renga puts a creative break to 2000 as a soloist return to the public. His first album, entitled Francesco Rengo can reach rank 46 of the Italian album charts at once.

However, a wider audience, he is known only two years later with the album Tracce ( tracks). The piece contained therein Tracce di te ( traces of you) is a sad tribute to his mother, to whom he barely remembers. This song Renga takes first at the major competition for Italy the San Remo festivals (2001, he participated already in the junior category) and can occupy a leading position.

The 2004 follow-up album Camere con vista ( room with a view) gives him the final breakthrough in Italy. With the song Angelo contained ( angel ) he wins in 2005, the 55th San Remo Festival and climbs the top of the singles charts.

For the first time # 1 on the Italian album charts reached Renga two years later with his album Ferro e cartone, which is accompanied by autobiographical short stories in his book Come viene mi - Vite di ferro e cartone.

Private

Renga is married to actress Ambra Angiolini. Together they have two children, Jolanda (2004) and Leonardo ( 2006).

Musical Style

Rengas music moves in the style of Italian pop rock, reminiscent in some ways of the music of Gianna Nannini or Nek. However, a peculiarity of his songs represent the poetic and intensely emotional lyrics that tell of abandonment, anxiety, mental pain, desires, doubts and partially describe an almost autistic character. Again and again Renga sings about the feeling of solitude and connection (usually at the end of a song ) about wanting to go out into the world to once again engage in life:

(Excerpt from Alba, on album Tracce, 2002)

The songs have always, as evidenced in his official biography, autobiographical character.

The deep sadness of the lyrics of Rengas work may be a reason why his music in Germany is still virtually unknown, while in Italy, he is now one of the fixed sizes of Italian pop music. In the German-speaking world knows and it is estimated far more the merry - sweet chatting with love songs of Eros Ramazzotti. However, rengas songs are catchy little at first listen, its very expressive and often moving at high altitudes singing voice does not convey the ease of catchy pop music.

Another feature of Rengas texts is the use of high Italian designs such as the congiuntivo imperfetto ( imperfect subjunctive ) and the election "noble ", often little more common words such as il volto instead of the usual la faccia il viso or for the face.
