Francesco Roberti

Francesco Cardinal Roberti (* July 7, 1889 in Pergola, Pesaro and Urbino, Italy, † July 16, 1977 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Francesco Roberti received his theological and philosophical education in Pergola and Rome. He received on 3 August 1913, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a pastor, seminar leader and lecturer in Rome. Beginning in 1928, was employed as a clerk at the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature, 1930, he was Under Secretary of the Curia for the interests of universities and seminars. In 1936 he was auditor of the Roman Rota, from 1937 to 1943 he took over as dean of management tasks to the Pontifical Institute " Utriusque Juris' true. Francesco Roberti founded the internationally renowned church law journal " Apollinaris ". In 1946 he became secretary of the Congregation Council.

Pope John XXIII. took him on 15 December 1958 as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the College of Cardinals, and appointed him to the Cardinal Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. On April 5, 1962 Francesco Roberti received by Pope John XXIII. , After he appointed him Titular Archbishop of columnata, episcopal ordination. He participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. On 26 June 1967 he was elevated to cardinal priest with the titular church of Santi Apostoli XII. The management of the Apostolic Signatura he laid down in 1969.

He died on 16 July 1977 in Rome and was buried in the cemetery of pergola.
